Who are we?
Hi! We are Fiona Connolly and Donna McCarra (sisters!). We have a passion not only for accounting, but for helping people get their businesses to where they want it to be. We thoroughly enjoy being able to sit down with clients and listen to the visions and aspirations and/or their problems or dilemmas and help them to put plans in place to drive their business forward. We get real satisfaction from helping someone achieve their goals. We find that the key to accounting is understanding – understanding what it is your trying to achieve, where it is you are going and how you want to get there. And this is where we come in!
We started our business so that we could achieve a better work life balance and we think that this is something that many business owners are now seeing the importance off. By putting the right tools and techniques in place for running your business, less time is spent on unnecessary tasks and more time to spend doing the things you love!
Our Vision
The way accountants interact with their clients is changing with the finance function of a business moving from a traditionally tactical role to a more strategic role. At McCarra Connolly, we don’t want to be JUST your year-end accountant but rather engage with you on a more continual basis, taking on the role of a business advisor/finance partner with an emphasis on adding value throughout your business.
The services that we provide focus on the concept of building reform from the ground up and utilising the advances in technology to facilitate this. Using our cloud software platform, we provide the systems to assist in streamlining operations and increasing efficiency. We want to shape your business in a way that allows you to play to your strengths and concentrate on growing your business.

Fiona Connolly
FCCA
From working in practice, Fiona has gained valuable experience not only in accounts preparation and auditing, but in the mentoring and training of junior staff, along with providing training and support for clients in the use of various accounting software. She is proficient in MS excel and data extraction and uses her technological skills to increase efficiency and meaningful manipulation of data.
Fiona obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting and Finance from Dundalk Institute of Technology. Fiona holds a fellowship with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. In the more recent years, Fiona successfully completed a Diploma in International Financial Reporting.
Donna McCarra
FCCA
Donna has worked on an extensive and varied portfolio from small to medium sized companies within a diverse range of industries. This experience has allowed her to understand best practices in the industry and provide her with the capability to adapt her knowledge and skills to a particular business to support them in their growth and development. Her time spent in a busy and demanding accountancy practice has ensured that she is accustomed to consistently delivering assignments with a high attention to detail in strict demanding timeframes.
Donna holds a First Class Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting and Finance from Dundalk Institute of Technology. Donna holds a fellowship with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, along with a Diploma in International Financial Reporting.
